It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
Since I last posted in It's Monday! What Are You Reading? I finished reading quite a few books. Here's the list of books I finished:
Here are the books I'm reading just for myself:
- Antigone, by Sophocles
- The Geography of Memory: A Pilgrimage Through Alzheimer's, by Jeanne Murray Walker
- In the House Upon the Dirt Between the Lake and the Woods, by Matt Bell
- Second Sky: Poems, by Tania Runyan
- Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood
Here are the books I'm reading just for myself:
- The second book is in Margaret Atwood's MaddAddam series, The Year of the Flood. When the third book in the series came out last summer, I realized I would need to re-read the first two, to refresh my memory, before I read the third.
- Mary Doria Russell's Children of God, which is the sequel to her book, The Sparrow. These two are some of my favorite books of all time, but I haven't read Children of God in quite awhile, so I don't remember it all that well. I re-read The Sparrow a couple times recently for a science fiction class that I taught.
- A Year of Biblical Womanhood, by Rachel Held Evans. This is a book that's been talked about a lot, and I wasn't sure if I would like it so I resisted reading it for a long time. In actuality, I'm really enjoying the book! Evans is a Christian feminist, and her interactions with the biblical rules for women, and with the women of the Bible in this book are just fascinating. I'm hoping to meet her at the Festival of Faith and Writing this year, so I wanted to read the book before that happens in April.
How exciting that you will get to meet Rachel Held Evans! I enjoyed her book as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI read The Sparrow last year and absolutely adored it. It quickly went onto my all-time faves list. I have Children of God waiting for me and I hope I like it as well. Thanks for signing up for Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon! See you next Saturday! --Andi, Host
