I finished several of the books that I was reading last week:
Cloud of Ink, L.S. Klatt (poetry)
; The Art of Spiritual Writing: How to Craft Prose That Engages and Inspires Your Readers, Vinita Hampton Wright; and
The Visionist, Rachel Urquhart (novel). I gave up on
Table Manners, by Mia King. It's fine beach-type reading, but it was a little to light for me. I'm still working on the longer, heavier books, most of which I've been working on all summer:
- Paper Dreams: Writers and Editors on the American Literary Magazine, edited by Travis Kurowski
- Holding On Upside Down: The Life and Work of Marianne Moore, Linda Leavell
- Slouching Towards Bethlehem, Joan Didion (essays)
- Marianne Moore: Complete Poems
And then, I've added a new novel,
The Scenic Route, by Binnie Kirshenbaum, and a new book of contemporary poetry,
Large White House Speaking, by Mark Irwin.
