It's Monday, What Are You Reading

It doesn't feel like a Monday to me (Mondays feel different when you're on winter break), but it's time for It's Monday, What Are you Reading. I'm still reading the books I had started last week, though I'm almost finished with The Little Paris Bookshop. Since I love books so much, I've enjoyed reading the adventures of this "literary apothecary" as he floats around on his book barge and adds a colorful array of interesting characters to the boat along his journey. Searching for Sunday has been quite engrossing as well. It's a spiritual memoir written by popular blogger, Rachel Held Evans, and it focuses on how she left the church and eventually returned. Evans writes in a casual, friendly style that I particularly enjoy in memoir writing. The writing is strong and very competent, but I also feel as though she's speaking directly to me, as a confidant.

I've also started reading a book of short by Claire Davis called Labors of the Heart. Maybe I'm being converted over to short stories!

  1. Yes I think any book lover will enjoy The Little Paris Bookshop - I just loved the quaintness of it and all the book remedies. The memoir sounds good, I like them because I like finding out about others.

    1. Yes, that's generally the issue I have with short stories too. I want to hang out with the characters for a longer period of time!

    1. Yes it really is wonderfully written. I've also gone through a similar church experience, so that's another reason I find the book so appealing.
