It's Monday, What Are You Reading?
Last week I finished two books, to complete my goal of 81 books for the year: Labors of the Heart, a book of short stories by Claire Davis, and The Highly Sensitive Person, by Elaine Aron (nonfiction). While I generally prefer novels to short fiction, Claire Davis is one of my favorite short story writers. The title story of the book, "Labors of the Heart," is one of my favorite stories of all time, and a story I often use when I teach creative writing classes. Here's Kevin Brief reading an excerpt from it on YouTube, and the story on Google Books. Davis is a fantastic writer, but what I like most about her stories are the vivid characters.
This week I'm still working on two books I started last week, Fates and Furies, by Lauren Groff, and The Third Plate, by Dan Barber. I've also added to my reading a bunch of poetry books for a one hour a day poetry study I'm doing in 2016. Click here to read more about the hour a day study concept and the books I'm starting off with.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Enjoy all your books. I couldn't devote an hour a day to anything without cutting too much into my reading time. I hope you can make it work. Here is what I read last week. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteLuckily the hour a day mostly involves reading - just means that I'll be reading more poetry this year :)
DeleteI have only read a small selection of short stories, don't love them usually. I look forward to your review on Fates and Furies.
