It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Last week I finished reading Fates and Furies, by Lauren Groff. I rarely give books five stars on GoodReads, but this was a five star book! Here's a review of the book from the New York Times, in case you want to know more about the book. In this book I got to know the characters so deeply that I feel a bit lost without them, now that the book is over. I also finished How to Read a Poem, by Tania Runyan, another five star book! If you've felt intimidated by reading poetry, or have thought poetry was too hard for you to understand, this book is for you! It's based on Billy Collins poem "Introduction to Poetry," and takes you through a stress-free process of learning to enjoy the reading of poems.

I'm still working my way through The Third Plate, and I'm enjoying very much the author's in-depth forays into the history behind a variety of foods, as well as its earth-friendly tone. I'm also still working on most of the books for my hour-a-day poetry study. This week I've added Autobiography of a Face, by Lucy Grealy, who was Ann Patchett's best friend (one of my favorite novelists). I'm also trying All the Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr, on audiobook. I haven't tried many audiobooks previously, since I tend to have difficulty following along, but I thought I'd try again since I have a long commute this semester. So far so good! The plot and the characters of the book are fascinating, and I'm able to follow along, no problem. It's certainly making my drive pass by more quickly.
