Dewey's Read-a-Thon

Today's the day for the 24 hour reading marathon, and here's what I plan to read today:

-The Triggering Town: Lectures and Essays on Poetry and Writing, by Richard Hugo
-A Dash of Style: The Art and Mastery of Punctuation, by Noah Lukeman
-Labors of the Heart: Stories, by Claire Davis
-Entering the House of Awe: Poems, by Susanna Childress
-Heft, by Liz Moore (novel)
-Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness, by Susannah Cahalan (memoir)
-Better Food for a Better World, by Erin McGraw (novel)

Are are my introductory questions answers for hour 1:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Southwestern Michigan
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Better Food for a Better World. I bought it at a writing conference earlier this year and haven't had time to read it until today.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? Fair trade dark chocolate from the new Whole Foods store that recently went in nearby.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I'm a college English professor, a poet, and an editor. My kids both love to read, and my daughter (who is 12 years old) will be joining me later today for part of the read-a-thon, and a couple friends will be coming over to read as well.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? I partially participated in the last several read-a-thons, but have always had to grade papers during it. This time I finished all my work during the week so that I can have today clear to read!

  1. Happy Readathon day from another Michigander! I am about a hour north of Detroit :) A small town. I hope you have a great readathon!
